Microsoft has started a good book to plant Vista SP1, at stay over. Yesterday Microsoft announced this Vista Check Bundle 1 (Vista SP1) decision be launched interpolated Q1 2008. But before that the body is shipping a beta version to 10,000 to 15,000 testers next lastingness.

I know that the users specially the businesses that have got Vista and are desperately waiting for Vista SP1 have got sad that they have to wait until next year. But I’m giving you another good news item that even now you can get Vista SP1 if you are running Vista on your laptop or desktop PC. How? It is very easy. Just update your Vista with the automatic service.

Zipkin senior product manager for Microsoft
said:

Microsoft will deliver SP1 over its automatic update services to consumers running Windows Vista. Business customers can use this service as well or roll out a stand-alone version of SP1, which has a bigger footprint, through whatever software a company uses for pushing updates to desktops.

The main duty of Vista SP1 (like Windows XP Service packs1 and 2) is to update Vista OS and fix bugs. Also, it enhances the performance, reliability, and compatibility of applications running in Vista and will not break any applications already running on the OS (but this is the problem you can easily face when you work with Windows XP SP2). It means that Vista SP1 works with Vista much better than Windows XP SP2 working with XP.

Vista SP1 will contain the 20 updates that already released over Microsoft's automatic update services and thousands of Vista files will be changed. Nonetheless the size of Vista SP1 (50MB) will be less than half of XP SP2.

Zipkin about the performance features and reliability of Vista SP1 said:

Specifically, SP1 will fix performance features, such as allowing for the computer to resume functionality after being in the Hibernate or Standby state, and also reduce the time it takes between a user hitting CTRL/ALT/DELETE to get the log-in prompt so they can log on to Windows, Zipkin said.

Microsoft also in SP1 will improve the performance of Internet Explorer 7 to speed Javascript processing and reduce CPU utilization so sites running AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript and XML) can run faster, he said.

On the reliability side, the update will reduce the likelihood of Vista crashing from a vague "search protocol handler" error message that users have reported happens frequently, Zipkin said. The company also fixed other common crashes users have reported through Microsoft's automatic reporting service.

So far, Microsoft has sold Vista licenses to 60 million. And 42 million licenses have been sold to businesses through its volume licensing program.

Additionally, Microsoft is releasing Windows XP SP3- the ultimate and the last update for Windows XP within next few weeks.

Windows XP SP3 will comprise previously released updates and a small number of new fixes. It shouldn't dramatically alter the XP experience, according to Microsoft.
