Life and Design
I was at the Lighthouse Gallery today to drop off some flyers for an event tomorrow night. I decided to have a browse around the galleries. I've been in the building a few times for meetings and events but never visited any of their exhibitions. The theme is architecture and design. It's quite refreshing to see things exhibited with a slightly different context from art galleries - though essentially creation and invention are in both.
The Gallery shop was a lot of fun. They have paper baskets. Bowls made from tightly folded paper layered together. The print and images created a rag effect. And then there was the slice plates. Plates that looked like slices of pizza. It's cool to see what people come up with to create a new angle on a familiar object.
I decided to pop into the Gallery of Modern Art as I was in gallery mode - my appetite whetted. It's not always beautiful but it can be breathtaking. I loved two huge wooden tubes. I immediately envisaged curling into one and rolling it around the space. Signs told me not to. Well, that was a bit limiting! Good idea though. Thought that I could get one for my lounge.
It was a day for first time things. I joined a choir in the Merchant City in Glasgow. It's a very relaxed and fun affair. Perfect. We did our warm ups and made some pretty impressive sounds. I'm looking forward to what will happen next. It's good to have curiosity about what's next. I'll have to go back and find out. Great there are so many people. There must be about 50 people in this choir. I'm excited they sing songs from all over the world. That rocks!
